TRANSFORMING TRADE, TRANSFORMING LIVES.

'Transforming Trade, Transforming Lives' is an ambitious vision that looks to accelerate the achievement of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Asia–Pacific through a rapid scale–up of Fairtrade from 2018 through to 2030.

The project commenced in June 2017 with the creation of a Discussion Paper that explored Fairtrade’s potential impact in the Asia–Pacific to 2030 and how accelerating this impact could support the achievement of the SDGs in virtually every developing country in the region.

It builds on almost 30 years of sustainable development work by Fairtrade with smallholder farmers and their communities in the region; work that has been undertaken in partnership with a growing number of organisations and businesses and has delivered a significant and growing Return on Investment (ROI)

The paper outlined some of the shifts that Fairtrade will need to make in how it approaches the Region if its potential role in the achievement of the SDGs is to be achieved – shifts that have already started to be implemented.
